So a few things happened today. First, the fiancé was
restless and wanted to leave early (he doesn’t believe that we will make it to
Florida by July 4), so we ended up leaving before sunrise. Then while on the
road, I began to experience sharp pains on my right abdomen area. The pain was excruciating and I opt to
go to the hospital. So at 5 AM, I was admitted to Baptist Beaumont Hospital in
Beaumont, TX. My pain on a scale of 1 to 10 was a 9 at the time of admittance.
A few hours later the ER couldn’t find anything wrong so they injected some
morphine and released me. I had painkillers left over from before so I popped
those for the rest of the road trip. I pretty much passed out for a few hours and
left the poor fiancé to drive by himself. He was actually entertained the first
few minutes I was on painkillers because I was talking like I was high. I don’t
remember anything he said I did, so we will leave it at that.
We hit Louisiana
soon after leaving the small town of Beaumont. I woke up in time to take a
picture of Lake Charles in Louisiana and spent the next few hours talking with
the fiancé. By this time I was fully recovered from whatever I had this
morning.

By 1 PM we crossed into Mississippi and stopped into their
welcome center. We both decided to take a rest here since we were doing really
great on time. Again, thank you fiancé for doing most of the driving! I found a
Marriott in Gulf Port on my map and we drove in to get a room. With our family
discount form we were able to get a room for a fraction of the price.
After a
quick shower and rest we headed out. I wanted to check out the outlet stores
near the freeway. The outlet was small with a handful of stores. Since my
appetite was finally back I craved sushi so we headed downtown. We stopped into
TA Sushi Bar on 27th Avenue. There were several seafood and oyster
joints, but I was in the mood for sushi. The bar was a block from the port and nested
between several lively bars. The waiter was sweet and served us promptly. The
sushi was creative, but nothing too noteworthy. The evening was nice; not too
hot and not too cold. There was a bit of activity downtown and it seems like a
small fair was getting set up on the port. It might be for July 4th.
The fiancé and I took a walk around the block after dinner and took in the fresh
air. We then headed back to the hotel, watched a movie, and called it a night.
So far, this road trip has
been nothing but easy going. I enjoyed the trip and enjoyed taking in the
Southern scenery. The train trip up north was beautiful, but the scenery here
is beautiful in its own rights. I am sorry I couldn’t give you better scenic
pictures. The cameras we used captured more blurry images than I liked, but
then again I was never a great photographer to begin with. We will be in
Florida by afternoon tomorrow.
